What have I been up to recently with that scrumptious stash of fabrics of mine, then?
I'm finding it impossible to choose between those gorgeous fabrics at the moment so I've been patchworking again.
And yes, you will have worked out that I've given a vintage, patchworky twist to the ever-popular covered coathanger.
That's the back you can see up there which is in a jolly modern polka dot fabric which adds a nice fresh touch, I think, to the gorgeous vintage fabrics.
Of course, not only are these hangers rather pretty but they're properly practical, too.
I'm betting you wouldn't want to keep them hidden away in your cupboard. They've been posing rather delightfully with some of my best frocks in the guest room. Lovely girly fun!
If you have just the perfect outfit to hang on this patchworky loveliness, you can make one your own here. I will be sorry to see them go, though! And of course, if you don't have the perfect outfit, what better excuse to get one!

So,so pretty and yet practical.I just can't bring myself to hang a special dress on those wooden...or worse... wire!!...coathangers.

They are lovely, you are incredibly talented! x
ReplyDeleteYour guest room is beautiful. I bet you have quite a time getting the visitors to leave. Your hangers are simply precious.
ReplyDeleteOur hearts are with you in your loss. We have been there too many times and it is never easy but when you know that they are in kitty heaven it does make it a bit more bearable.
Morning Hen,
ReplyDeleteGosh what pretty, pretty hangers (and just as lovely dresses too!), you clever old bean! They really do add a special something.
So sorry to hear about your parents' lovley cat. It's horrid to lose an old friends isn't it. I still miss my Wednesday an awful lot.
Hope you have a lovely weekend with all your lovley fabric. I'm quietly panicking about our trip to Centre Parcs in Cumbria tomorrow - woke up to six inches of snow this morning and its still coming down! Keep your fingers crossed for us.
Take care
Stephx

You are such a busy bee Hen. When are you going to bottle up some of your energy and enthusiasm and sell that in your shop?!!! x
ReplyDeleteHi Hen, those hangers are lovely and far too good to be keep in a wardrobe. Liz has been having real probs trying to email you the booking form for the bazaar and my email to you has bounced back too...are you having probs?
ReplyDeleteSo lovely Hen, over the years I have replaced then decorated all my coathangers, and it does make a difference...have a good week ..H
ReplyDeleteHello hen. I love these hangers and the fabrics you have used. So beautiful as is the gorgeous cushion you made for Donna. So sorry to hear about Tilly cat (yes, behind again!). Hard when these longtime friends leave us isn't it? Hope you have a great week xx
ReplyDeleteI think I'd want to just display these hangers on their own, not covered up by a dress, cos they're so scrummy. That's what I do with the hanger I bought from you a while ago, it just hangs on the wall in my studio, to be admired! Love Vanessa xxx (do you mind if i knit)
ReplyDeleteSo pretty!!

Stamp. Stamp. Stamp. Tantrum.
ReplyDeleteI want one of those mirrored dressing tables, too.
Only they don't sell such pretty stuff where I live.
Stamp. Siiiiigh.
Oh well, love to see what you do - inspires me!!
Thanks ;))
Gorgeous hangers - they're so pretty. How can something so useful be so beautiful. I have some similar ones that belonged to my grandmothers and one that was Mr P's mothers. I like to imagine what they hung on them! x
ReplyDeleteGorgeous hangers! Soo looking forward to the V&H fair!!!!
ReplyDeleteOhooo yes I think I have found a new love :0) I have been drooling here Hen, http://www.purlbee.com/the-purl-bee/2010/2/21/kaffe-fassetts-simple-shapes-spectacular-quilts.html
ReplyDeleteThough you shall be very disappointed with my purchase Hen. From the lovely fabric shop in Anglesey I only came away with one teeny tiny KF FQ, Persian Vase I think it is called. I have to let the fabric grow on me you see, would normally walk right past the KF isle, never floated my boat before, but think I have had a KF awakening ;0) and now wish I had bought more. How pleased I am to find there is going to be a sale there in a couple of weeks and am hoping to be meeting a new blogger friend too, double thumbs up. I also found a very Provence Rose esque Moda fabric and came away with a little, I shall do a little post on all the yummylicious fabric in the shop.
Ohooo I seem to have waffled, apologies
X
Hi Hen, I am just catching up with blogs after our weekend away and was so saddened to hear the news of poor Tilly. We had two cats from kittens, a brother and a sister. Sadly we lost the male a few years ago and I was shocked at how very sad we all were. My thought are with you all and love to your parents.
ReplyDeleteI did laugh at the munchkins letter. Very sweet.
I love your coat hangers too by the way.

Hi Hen - gosh you do cheer me up with your lovely blog. Now as a lady who seems to know where to track things down. I am desperate to make some of those inchies/inchys that you see on Etsy but cant track down a supplier of all the things you need ie there are some glue ads on ebay and necklaces but they are expensive. I have only ever bought downloads on etsy from USA not actual items. Have you any tips on purchasing from USA. I am doing a fair at the end of April and will be selling my bunting etc and thought they would be a bit different with inchy pics added and maybe tiny bits of vintage embroidered linens that wont sew into anything. No competition for you with what I make as I sell locally in North Yorkshire!!
ReplyDeleteHi - just wanted you to know that I have given your blog a "Sunshine" award. Please come to my blog and pick it up. :)
ReplyDeleteP.S. I love reading your blog.
Hi Hen
ReplyDeleteSorry to read on Liz's blog that you won't be able to get to our DH Textile Day. Personally I think you should postpone your annual holiday!!!!!
We'll make sure we take plenty of photos so you can see what you've missed!! ;))
Lovely hangers ...

You make the loveliest things! Sorry about the sweet kitty.

Hi Hen
ReplyDeleteGorgeous hangers, you are really enjoying patchwork lately.
I love your blue dress, very glamourous!
Still waiting for someone to come and look at the roof! It seems business must be good for roofers locally as some are not returning calls and others are already out working on other roofs...
Take care

That was indeedy my thinking too Hen ;0)
